Ozone Modeling to Support Wyoming Air Quality Planning
Clients
Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (WDEQ)
Sonoma Technology performed ozone modeling and developed an air quality modeling platform for the Wyoming Green River Basin. During winter months, significant oil and gas production resulted in elevated ozone concentrations. Sonoma Technology and our subcontractor performed air quality modeling simulations for winter 2008 using two photochemical grid models—CAMx and CMAQ—to determine which would perform best given the region’s meteorological conditions. We also converted detailed emissions inventories for oil and gas production sources into model-ready emissions inputs. Sonoma Technology used EPA’s MOVES model to prepare on-road mobile source emissions estimates for the region.</p>
The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality used the resulting emissions and air quality modeling platform to develop air quality management plans for the region.
