Florida Air Monitoring Network Assessment and Optimization

By performing a network assessment and optimization study, STI helped the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) assess its statewide ambient air quality monitoring network. STI developed a conceptual model of the FDEP monitoring network, which records ozone, PM2.5, PM10, CO, SO2, NO2, and lead concentrations, and tested the model using four analyses: measured concentrations, area representativeness, suitability modeling, and correlation analysis. The results from this assessment were developed into a set of recommendations to help the network better meet the FDEP’s monitoring objectives.
