STI is supporting multiple California refineries in addressing local regulations requiring real-time fenceline monitoring and reporting of toxic pollutants to the public using open-path instrument technology. These regulations include the Bay Area Air Quality Management District’s (BAAQMD) Regulation 12, Rule 15, and the South Coast Air Quality Management District’s (SCAQMD) proposed Rule 1180.
To address the rules, STI developed draft monitoring plans to cover each refinery’s fencelines, and will install and operate the monitoring networks and equipment. STI will submit the collected data to the refineries and their respective air quality districts. We are also developing a data-display website for each refinery to provide the public with real-time air quality information.
