As a technical editor at our 60-person consulting firm in Petaluma, you will have the opportunity to apply your excellent editing and document management skills to produce engaging technical content in a professional environment. Join our team of editors and collaborate with our content experts on topics such as air quality science, fire science, and data analysis and modeling tools to produce reports, proposals, presentations, fact sheets, web content, posters, and more. For more information about our culture, visit <a href="http://www.sonomatech.com/charter" target="_blank">www.sonomatech.com/charter</a href>.</p> Sonoma Technology is an affirmative action and equal opportunity employer.</p> <b>Key Responsibilities</b> <ul><li>Edit complex technical documents for clarity, consistency, organization, and grammatical correctness</li> <li>Format documents in accordance with our corporate (or other) style guide</li> <li>Work closely with authors, technical reviewers, editors, graphic designers, and other staff to meet deadlines, ensure quality, and meet client needs</li> <li>Train and advise technical staff on grammar and technical writing, the company style guide, and use of templates and other tools</li> <li>Manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced team environment with shifting priorities</li> <li>Perform administrative duties related to document management</li> <li>Write and/or edit supportive documents needed for proposals including capability statements, past performance references, personnel resumes, and background information on the relevant subject areas</li> <li>May create and/or modify graphics for inclusion in documents, journal papers, and PowerPoint presentations, and assist with layout of fact sheets and technical posters</li> <li>Assist with business development and marketing activities, including social media posts, as needed</li></ul> <b>Qualifications</b> <ul><li>Technical editing experience including, but not limited to, scientific, software, or engineering topics</li> <li>Degree in English, Communications, or a related field</li> <li>Impeccable spelling and punctuation skills</li> <li>Robust knowledge of grammar and composition; ability to analyze sentence structure and suggest improvements</li> <li>High level of accuracy, efficiency, attention to detail, and organization</li> <li>Advanced skill with MS Word including formatting text, tables, figures, tables of contents, and other front matter and using Word’s Track Changes and Comment features</li> <li>Willingness to receive feedback from multiple reviewers</li></ul> <b>Desired Skills</b> <ul><li>Proficiency with MS PowerPoint and Publisher (or equivalent)</li> <li>Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (primarily Acrobat, Photoshop, and InDesign) for basic layout and publication design</li> <li>Competency with bibliographic programs (such as EndNote)</li> <li>Familiarity with proposal development, including drafting, editing, assembling, and submitting</li> <li>Basic knowledge of HTML</li></ul>
