Job Description: 
Sonoma Technology is seeking a senior Environmental Field Technician to assist with and conduct field measurement and operational programs for industrial and community air monitoring projects in the Los Angeles Basin. The projects use sophisticated instruments and small sensor technology to collect air quality and meteorological data. The measurements support applications in meteorology, air quality, air quality health effects, public information on air quality in communities, and other environmental disciplines. You will work with our experienced senior scientists and clients to execute both long- and short-term monitoring projects in environmental monitoring; training will be provided as needed. While the position and most of the work are based in Southern California, project work may occur throughout the U.S. and occasionally internationally. For more information about our culture, visit <a href="http://www.sonomatech.com/charter" target="_blank">www.sonomatech.com/charter</a href>.</p> Sonoma Technology is an affirmative action and equal opportunity employer.</p> <b>Key Responsibilities</b> <ul><li>Perform equipment installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibrations</li> <li style="margin-left:2em">Install and operate, and maintain instruments that measure the gas and particle phase</li> <li style="margin-left:2em">Install, operate, and maintain remote sensing instruments (e.g., radar wind profilers, sodars)</li> <li style="margin-left:2em">Install, operate, and maintain open-path instruments</li> <li style="margin-left:2em">Install, operate, and maintain small/low-cost sensors</li> <li style="margin-left:2em">Configure communication equipment for remote data transfer (e.g., cellular modems)</li> <li style="margin-left:2em">Perform instrument audits (meteorological and air quality)</li> <li style="margin-left:2em">Conduct data review and quality control; may conduct basic meteorology and air quality analyses</li> <li>Assist in or oversee planning and coordinating field projects, primarily related to air quality and meteorology</li> <li>Communicate project information to project managers and staff routinely</li></ul> <b>Required Qualifications and Skills</b> <ul><li>Three or more years of relevant experience including electronics</li> <li>Strong interest in working with sophisticated air quality and meteorological instrumentation</li> <li>Excellent communication, organization, time management, problem-solving, and customer service skills</li> <li>Proficiency in mechanical and electrical systems</li> <li>Skilled with basic hand tools and electrical testing devices</li> <li>Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word; knowledge of computer programming is a plus</li> <li>Ability and willingness to travel locally and occasionally to other parts of the country</li> <li>Valid driver’s license and clean driving record</li> <li>Ability to pass initial and random drug tests</li></ul> <b>Desired Qualifications</b> <ul><li>A degree in an environmental, chemical, or physical science or engineering</li> <li>Experience with air quality and/or meteorology measurements</li> <li>Experience with environmental data acquisition systems</li> <li>Experience with data communications equipment</li></ul> <b>Submitting a Résumé</b><br> No phone calls, please.
