Sonoma Technology is seeking an Air Quality Data Scientist to join our Data Science Department in Petaluma, California. The successful candidate will work on projects involving ambient, satellite, modeling, and/or emissions data to better understand local and regional air pollution levels and sources. For more information about our culture, visit <a href="" target="_blank"></a href>.</p> Sonoma Technology is an affirmative action and equal opportunity employer.</p> <b>Key Responsibilities</b> <ul><li>Conduct technical analyses using ambient air quality and meteorological data, as well as advanced emissions and air quality models, to address complex environmental problems and meet the research and regulatory needs of our clients.</li> <li>Visualize, analyze, and interpret ambient air quality and/or model data.</li> <li>Apply statistical methods to assess ambient air quality and/or model data.</li> <li>Investigate spatial and temporal patterns of ambient air quality, model, and/or emissions data to support international, national, regional, and local-level air quality assessments.</li> <li>Prepare technical reports and communicate results to clients and other scientific researchers.</li> <li>Work with interdisciplinary teams in a collaborative applied research environment.</li></ul> <b>Required Qualifications and Skills</b> <ul><li>A BS, MS, or PhD degree in the physical sciences, environmental sciences, or engineering, with a focus on air quality or atmospheric science.</li> <li>A strong interest in air quality and environmental science.</li> <li>Experience in air pollution data analysis, including ambient, satellite, and/or modeling/emissions data.</li> <li>Ability to create scientifically sound and clear written products such as journal manuscripts.</li> <li>Excellent communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.</li> <li>Ability and willingness to learn through on-the-job internal and external training.</li></ul> <b>Desired Qualifications</b> <ul><li>Knowledge of atmospheric processes.</li> <li>Experience in air quality (e.g., CMAQ, CAMx, AERMOD) or emissions (e.g., MOVES, SMOKE) modeling.</li> <li>Proficiency in a data science and analysis platform (e.g., Python, R, Matlab, IDL).</li> <li>Experience in advanced data analytics such as machine learning or artificial intelligence.</li> <li>Experience or familiarity with GIS technology (ArcMap) or satellite data analysis software (ENVI or IMAGINE).</li> <li>Experience with spatial statistics.</li></ul> <b>Submitting a Résumé</b><br> No phone calls, please.
