Job Description: 
Sonoma Technology is seeking an Operations Engineer who will serve as a Tier 1 administration and escalation point for corporate- and customer-facing systems and services for our operational software platforms.</p> You will be responsible for building and maintaining a service- and systems-monitoring framework, responding to customer issues and automated alerts, administering the help desk, and performing root cause analysis on service-impacting issues. This role will require frequent collaboration with our IT and Software Engineering Groups to develop standards and best practices around systems deployment and change management. </p> The Operations Engineer will frequently implement changes to production environments and ensure that established operational guidelines are followed.</p> This role requires a willingness to learn and apply new technology. You must possess superior technical aptitude, strong written and oral communications skills, and the ability to effectively deal with people in a wide variety of situations. For more information about our culture, visit <a href="http://www.sonomatech.com/charter" target="_blank">www.sonomatech.com/charter</a href>.</p></p> Sonoma Technology is an affirmative action and equal opportunity employer.</p> <b>Key Responsibilities</b> <ul><li>Monitoring system performance 24x7 and escalating issues to appropriate teams</li> <li>Participating in an on-call rotation for responding to service outages</li> <li>Collaborating with engineers to develop and create tools, monitors, and processes to accurately report and alert on customer impacting issues</li> <li>Working with cross-functional teams to deploy new services into the production environment</li> <li>Maintaining accurate documentation and diagrams of production environments</li> <li>Resolving complex support issues that may not be well documented, and applying your knowledge by writing and improving support procedures</li> <li>Performing advanced system administration activities as a subject expert in at least one area of technology; e.g., Cloud, Docker, Kubernetes</li> <li>Evaluating new technology, and deploying and maintaining new and existing services</li> <li>Understanding networking concepts such as DNS, DHCP, email, HTTP, SSL, and TCP/IP protocols and applications</li> <li>Quickly adapting to and deploying new technologies</li></ul> <b>Required Qualifications and Skills</b> <ul><li>2+ years of experience in a client-facing technical role</li> <li>2+ years of AWS, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure experience</li> <li>1+ years of experience with containerization technologies (e.g. Docker)</li> <li>Desire to deliver positive customer experiences by identifying client problems and guiding them through complex technical solutions</li> <li>Ability to professionally and diplomatically address customer concerns and provide concise feedback</li> <li>Excellent reading comprehension, listening, and writing skills</li> <li>A firm understanding of the technology stacks common to the Web ecosystem</li> <li>A functional knowledge of general purpose programming languages</li> <li>Strong ability to debug other people’s code</li> <li>Solid understanding of computer networking</li> <li>Flexible work schedule, as this position involves regular weekend and evening work</li> <li>A B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent work experience</li></ul> <b>Submitting a Résumé</b><br> No phone calls, please.
